Here are a few tips to help you pick the perfect signature fragrance…
Narrow it down
There are literally thousands of different perfumes and fragrances on the market today and the list continues to grow rapidly. It can be overwhelming to break them all down. Fragrances can be categorised into 10 main groups but to keep things simple, lets start with the basics…. floral, oriental, wood and citrus. Understanding these give you a good foundation before you start adding additional notes like fruit, spices or grass to your perfumes.
Floral
Picture roses, lilies, fresh cut flowers and lovely shops that sell home fragrance and sweet smelling skincare. Floral scents are very feminine and quite sweet. If you love the smell of florists, botanical gardens and rosewater then start with our modern twist on the a traditional ROSE or SERENITY a delicate botanical blend with notes of lavender, rose, bergamot and ylang ylang.
Wood
Wood based and oriental scents can seem quite similar but woods are deeper, somewhat darker and heavier than oriental ones. Think cedar tables, leather couches, tobacco and wood fires. If you think you are drawn to wood fragrances you might want to consider trying MOON and earthy blend of green florals or SAGE our new Solid perfume.
Citrus
Citrus fragrances are fresh, summery and are reminiscent of youth. Think of green summer salads with lime dressing, icy cocktails with lemon slices and freshly squeezed orange juice. If you like a bit of zesty citrus you may be more drawn to SUN, a sweet uplifting blend with light earthy undertones.
Oriental
Oriental fragrances usually have main notes of incense, amber and vanilla. Imagine chai tea, a beautiful posy of jasmine flowers or vanilla bean custard tarts. Oriental scents are considered quite sexy and seductive so if this sounds like you, keep your eyes out for our soon to be released Spring/Summer range.
Follow your instincts
Once you’ve figured out if you’re floral, oriental, wood or citrus you can start exploring fragrances in your category. You’ll often find that you’re naturally drawn towards bottles of perfume from your preferred scent-family. For instance lots of woody fragrances are in dark, moody looking bottles that won’t appeal to someone who likes fresh citrus fragrances. Similarly florals are often in very feminine, pink hued bottles that a minimalist oriental lover wouldn’t be drawn to. Trust your eye and see where it takes you.
Let it settle
Never commit to purchasing a perfume unless you’ve worn it for at least eight hours. Only try two fragrances at a time, spray one on each wrist and periodically smell them through out the day to see how they settle on your skin. By the end of the day, you should have a fairly solid preference.
Try samples

Be adventurous
Mix it up a little. Just because you lean towards loving orientals doesn’t mean that a rose based scent won’t work for you too. Take a risk and mix it up with ROSE in either a perfume oil or Solid Perfume blend.
